You may also designate a dealer, have that dealer deal out the cards randomly, and specify that the holder of, say, the ace of spades (or any other card thrown into the game for this purpose) becomes the moderator.

Note - Once again, the drawback is that an inexperienced player may become moderator. We have not tried this variant.
