Ephraim Ross writes to us from Pomona College to inform us of anotehr variant of the game of Mafia-- the jury. Here's how it works:

"[W]e played with a jury panel/deciding chairs, three people who were initially selected by the moderator and who, on top of whatever else they were [one of the three always begin as mafia] would be the deciding voice in whether the accused and seconded dies rather than voting by everyone. Note that these three people could be voted out of office by a popular vote and someone else put in [this often needed to happen when the mafia would promptly kill one of the two non-mafia seats]."
